The Tanker Specialist
Operating a tanker fleet requires more than biological compliance; it requires absolute operational safety. For vessels carrying flammable or explosive cargo, the Ballast Water Management System must meet stringent Explosion-Proof standards to prevent any risk of ignition in hazardous zones.
The BSKY Ex-Series is engineered specifically for tankers. Combining our proven filter-free EPT technology with world-class explosion protection, Ex-Series ensures safety standards and environmental compliance work in perfect harmony.
Engineered for Hazardous Zones
The BSKY Ex-Series is designed to be installed in Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous areas, typically found on tanker decks or in pump rooms.
1) ATEX & IECEx Certified
Every electrical component—from the UV power supply to control sensors—uses certified explosion-proof enclosures to meet global safety benchmarks for explosive gas atmospheres.
2) Positive Pressure Purging
Control cabinets utilize Pressurized protection (Ex p) or Flameproof (Ex d) designs to prevent flammable gas contact with ignition sources.
3) Thermal Safety Monitoring
Redundant thermal sensors monitor system temperatures. If thresholds are exceeded, the system automatically enters Safe Mode or shuts down to prevent surface ignition risks.
The Tanker Advantage: Why BSKY?
No Filters = No Manual Intervention
Minimizes time in hazardous zones. No filter cleaning, no back-flushing routines, reduced crew exposure.
Corrosion-Resistant for Harsh Decks
Marine-grade Ex materials for salt spray, humidity, and extreme temperature swings.
Small Footprint for Pump Rooms
Compact MP-UV reactor and no bulky back-flushing filter unit—ideal for tanker retrofits.
Ex-Ready Integration
Safety logic, alarms, and monitoring designed for tanker operations and hazardous area procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the BSKY Ex-Series be installed on the open deck?
Yes. Specialized containerized or deck-house solutions are available where the entire Ex-Series is enclosed in a weather-protected, explosion-proof module.
Are the UV lamps themselves explosion-proof?
The UV lamps are housed inside a pressure-tested stainless-steel reactor vessel. Electrical connections are protected using certified Ex d or Ex e housings.
Is the system compatible with Nitrogen inerting systems?
Yes. Control cabinets can be integrated with the ship’s inert gas or nitrogen purging systems for additional layers of explosion protection.
